The 9th National Atmospheric Fine and Ultrafine Particles Technology Seminar and the 14th Cross-strait Workshop for Aerosol Science and Technology were held in Yancheng from July 25th to 27th. The two seminars were hosted by the Aerosol Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Particuology, supported by the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Yancheng Environmental Protection Science and Technology City (YEPSTC) and organized by the China Section of Air & Waste Management Association, the Beijing Society for Powder Technology and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
During the sessions, three scientists from the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese University of Hong Kong delivered informative keynote presentations on Source Analyses and Measurement Technology of Air Pollutants, Nanometer Photocatalysis Technology for NOx and VOCs and Health Effects of PM2.5 respectively. 18 scholars from Xi’an Jiaotong University, National Cheng Kung University and Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) were involved in poster presentations at the seminars on themes including Exposure Risks of Particulates, Formation of Aerosol, Online Analyses of Pollutant Sources and etc. Over 40 professors and researchers from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Fudan University, Nankai University, Dessert Research Institute, Industrial Technology Research Institute, National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan), multiple research institutes of CAS and environmental enterprises reported their findings on themes such as Particulate Pollution V.S. Weather, Geography and Environment, Monitoring and Pollution Control Technology of Fine Particles, Physical and Chemical Features of Fine Particles, Sources and Health Effects of Ultrafine Particles and Health Effects and Risk Management of Air Pollution.
Many environmental enterprises were also invited at the seminars to learn from the most cutting-edge technological findings and to put forward industrial demands for new technologies. The success of the seminars not only has provided technical and policy support for the central government in prevention and control of air pollution, but also has further built up the bond between YEPSTC and key Chinese and international research institutes and broadened the vision of environmental enterprises settled in YEPSTC for future technological innovation.
