The Third UMN-CAS Bilateral Seminar organized by the Insitute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yancheng Environmental Protection Science Technology City was held in Yancheng on July 28th to 29th. Experts and scholars from both sides exchanged ideas on monitoring, control engineering, transmission, and conversion mechanism of particulate matters and on feasible PM standard and technology for China. Over 50 leading experts as well as around 30 chief executives from listed environmental companies including Dr. David Y.H. Pui, member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE), and the Director of the Particle Technology Laboratory, University of Minnesota and Tao Wenquan, member of Chinese Academy of Science, professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University participated the seminar.
The Seminar was opened by Professor David Y.H. Pui. Zhang Lihua, CPC Work Secretary of YEPSTC delivered welcoming remarks for guests from afar. He pointed out that, cooperation with top research institutes and scientists has always been an important engine for the development of YEPSTC. It is of the most welcome for scientists to join the City to join hands to contribute to environmental protection.
The UMS-CAS Bilateral Seminar is an arrangement in the comprehensive cooperation deal signed between the President of CAS and the President of University of Minnesota (UMN) on July 3rd 2014. Severe air pollution in China and research and technology of particulate matters are key aspects of the bilateral cooperation.
